"...whoever loves God is known by God" (1 Corinthians 8:3).
Whoever you, Dear Reader, I have news for you in case you didn’t know it; I have a reminder for you, in case you may have forgotten: God knows you by name!
Thatheartache you hide behind a smile, he says “I know!”
You may see yourself as someone who just slips in and out of church on a Sunday morning, or who just privately goes about your business. Maybe many folk don’t even know your name, but God does!
Not only does he know about you…He knows YOU!
That burden you are carrying that nobody else is aware of, he says “I know!"
That heartache you hide behind a smile, he says “I know!”
That secret sinful habit that perhaps you hide behind closed doors, and are struggling to overcome, he says: “I know!”
That knowledge is not meant to scare us, but quite the opposite! It’s meant to bring us the greatest of comforts, to know that this awesome, Holy Creator of the universe desires to be in relationship with you and me, so much so that He would die in order to make that happen.
I know my sheep and my sheep know me— and I lay down my life for the sheep.” (v14-15).
You know what that means don’t you? The fact that he knows us.
It means the masks can come off
It means we can be ourselves in His presence.
We don’t have to impress Him,
We don’t have to pretend that its all ok when its not.
“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account”. (Hebrews 4:13)
PRAYER:
Lord, you know me better than I know myself
Every secret, every sorrow, not hidden from You;
Help me to rest in that knowledge right now,
To be real, unmasked, authentic and true.
