WHAT A CHAMP! (Advent - Day 13)

Text: For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

Unconditional love is not always easy to find in the world today, is it? Many times we love e that love us back. It’s not easy to love our enemies or bless those who curse as or pray for those who despitefully use us, as encouraged to do by Scripture.

I was thinking about God. How grateful we ought to be that His love for us is not as fluctuating as ours is. As humankind, we have chosen to reject God, turn our backs on Him – yet that same God offers all mankind hope.

Sin held the world in a deathly grip. The enemy was killing, robbing, destroying. We could not fight the battle and win. The more we tried, the greater the guilt, shame and condemnation. But there is hope, a child born unto us – His Name is mighty God.

He would champion our cause. He would fight on our behalf. He would conquer death , hell and the grave!

Our Hope has a name – His name is Mighty God!

Prayer

Mighty God, Deliverer strong,

Thank you for championing my cause;

Thank you for breaking the shackles of sin,

For freeing my from sin and death’s laws.
